Daniel & Marissa, Spring Engagement Dewitt, IA

Oh man, friends. I have been so patiently waiting to get these cuties behind my camera. When Marissa & I met early last fall I knew right away I was going to love her as a bride. Meeting Daniel & their beautiful daughter only cemented how eager I was to be a part of their adventure. These two have so much fun together & I am overjoyed to follow along capturing all the smiles & laughter along the way.

The pair decided to shoot here in Dewitt, which turned out to be a fun evening running back & forth from one bridge to the next attempting to find an easy access to the creek, which we thankfully did within the last 10 minutes of the session. It was a VERY warm day for May & every nasty, little bug decided to come out that night, but we grabbed some stunning photos. These two are worth every bug bite (& I seriously have a ton of bug bites from that night).

Aren't they fun? They were constantly giggling at each other. I could have spent all evening just watching them & their love.

We had such lovely light all evening. I'm always incredibly grateful when clients trust me on shoot times. Timing makes SUCH a big difference in quality of light. Nice, soft, even lighting allows you to shoot wherever you'd like, rather than spend the session in search of open shade. I love have the flexibility to shoot wherever I'm inclined, so many more possibilities.

I love these moments in this stunning little glen. Some of the best moments are captured from wandering down trails to find secret nooks & spaces just bursting with character. To end the session we worked through the trails until we found a way to access the creek. At this point the bugs were unbearable, so it was a quick ten minutes & then a near sprint back to our cars to escape nature.

I'm so glad for these two. There is something so, so precious in finding the right person & I feel incredibly blessed to meet so many insanely in-love couples. I'm fiercely looking forward to Marissa & Daniel's Fall wedding. Just a few more months!
